  • What's the moisture content of your firewood?

With our kiln, we are capable of providing firewood with a moisture content below 10%.

  • Is kiln dried firewood better than seasoned firewood?

Yes. When the firewood is heated to an internal temperature of 160 degrees Fahrenheit, it's guaranteed not to have mold, mildew, or insects.

  • Do you deliver firewood?

Yes. We offer free local delivery with a minimum order of a half cord of firewood.

  • Do you kiln dry your firewood on site?

Yes. Our firewood is locally dried. We have the only firewood kiln on Long Island's Gold Coast.

  • Will you stack the wood?

Yes. For an additional fee, we offer stacking services for our firewood.

  • Why is your firewood better?

We use all premium hardwood. No softwood is used. Our firewood can be lowered to your desired moisture content. It's also hand-loaded removing all scraps and debris. It's always 100% clean and insect-free.

  • Can I buy specific types of firewood?

Based on availability, we offer 100% loads of cherry, birch, maple, and oak firewood.

  • How big is your firewood?

Typically, our firewood is between 16-18 inches and four inches thick. Our wood can also be custom ordered to size.

  • Is there a minimum purchase amount required?

You are welcome to stop by our yard to purchase as much or as little firewood as you need. However, a half-cord loose is required for local delivery. We also offer prepackaged firewood bundles. Call today to inquire.

  • What are some of the advantages of kiln dried firewood?

It's guaranteed to be light and easy to use to start a fire. It burns hot with less smoke, making it safe for indoor use and cooking. Our firewood is always clean and bug-free, too, so you can store it inside with no issues.

  • How long does kiln-dried firewood stay dry?

Kiln-dried firewood, once stored properly, can stay dry for an extended period—usually up to a year. However, it’s important to store it in a dry, sheltered space to prevent it from absorbing moisture again. The wood will maintain its low moisture content if kept off the ground and covered from rain or snow.

  • Can I use kiln-dried firewood in an outdoor fire pit?

Yes, kiln-dried firewood is perfect for outdoor fire pits. It burns hotter and cleaner, creating less smoke, which makes it ideal for outdoor gatherings. Additionally, it lights easily, ensuring a quicker start to your fire without the hassle of waiting for the wood to catch.

  • Is kiln-dried firewood environmentally friendly?

Kiln-dried firewood can be considered environmentally friendly in several ways. By using a kiln to dry the wood, we reduce the time it takes for wood to season, preventing unnecessary long storage periods where wood can degrade. Kiln drying also reduces the moisture content, which results in more efficient burning, reducing the overall carbon footprint.

  • Can I burn kiln-dried firewood in a wood stove or fireplace?

Yes, kiln-dried firewood is ideal for both wood stoves and fireplaces. Its low moisture content allows it to burn more efficiently, producing more heat and less creosote buildup in chimneys and flues. This makes it a safer and more effective choice for heating your home.

  • How do I know if my firewood is properly dried?

You can check if firewood is properly dried by looking for cracks or splits on the ends of the logs and by tapping two pieces of wood together, listening for a sharp, hollow sound. Kiln-dried firewood, in particular, will have a moisture content below 10%, and it will ignite easily and burn with a steady, clean flame.
